The Fish Auction of Zeebruges had always been a municipal enterprise before it was privatised in 1988. Before the privatisation, a turnover of
39.660.000 EUR was achieved. At that time, 55 % of the fish brought to shore in Belgium was auctioned at Zeebruges.
Today ( 2009 ), the Zeebruges Fish Auction has a turnover of 36.808.450 EUR.
This makes Zeebruges by far the
largest fishing port in Flanders.
In 2003 the Zeebruges Fish Auction was rewarded with the ISO 9001.2000 - certificate.
